JOHN “JACK” JAMES STEWART JR.
ROYSE CITY, TX / AVOCA, N.Y. – John “Jack” James Stewart, Jr., age 87, of Royse City, TX, passed away December 26, 2022. An Avoca, NY native, he was born June 16, 1935, to Irene (Storms) and John James Stewart, Sr. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. Thereafter he worked for Haines Equipment Inc. for 57 years until age 76, where he was the Vice-President and an instrumental contributor of innovative agricultural and industrial equipment sold around the world. During this time, he was married to his loving wife, Sharill (Anderson) Stewart, for 64 years, raised six children, and was an active member of the Avoca United Methodist Church.
Jack was a good-hearted, caring, and selfless man who touched many lives. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him as a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend; a man of unmatched integrity and honesty; and a mentor and role model of impeccable values and ethics in his home, workplace, and community.
Jack is survived by his wife Sharill (Anderson) Stewart; children: John James Stewart III, Douglas George Anderson Stewart, Joseph Jon Stewart and wife Debbie, Dianna Lynn Stewart and wife Juanita Bueno, Daniel Gareth Stewart and wife Melissa, and Christina Mabel (Stewart) Garley and husband Matthew; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters: Nancy Dodd and Linda Dygert. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Irene Stewart; brother: Edward Stewart; sister; Dolores Stewart; and grandson Dustin Garley.
Relatives and friends are invited to join his family at Avoca United Methodist Church, 8593 Jacobs Ladder Rd, Avoca, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
