Franklin William Husted
Franklin William Husted of Penn Yan, N.Y. passed away on Wednesday (Feb. 3, 2021) at the age of 86 with his loving wife of 66 years at his side, along with his faithful companions Sherry (Great Dane) Rusty and Amy (kitties).
Franklin served 20+ years in the US Navy, after retiring he and his wife purchased his grandparents 72-acre farm in Yates County, NY. They enjoyed working the land, raising farm animals, gardening and their dogs and cats.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Agnes M (Dubbs) Husted; brother, David Husted and brothers-in-law, Donald Williams, David Gridley, Stanley Albrecht, and Warren Hall; sister-in-law, Vera (Gridley) Albrecht.
Franklin is survived by his wife, Earlyn (Gridley) Husted; sisters, Joan Williams of Skaneateles, N.Y., Betty (James) Walker of Conesus, N.Y. and Lola (David) Stone of Waterloo, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Louis (Donna) Gridley; sister-in-law, Lois Hall of Penn Yan, N.Y.; numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no service at this time due to Covid 19 and a celebration of Franklin’s life will be celebrated at a later date. Those wishing to remember Franklin may consider a donation to the Yates County Humane Society of Yates County.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the Yates County Sheriff’s Department, especially the deputies who responded; the Penn Yan Ambulance Corps for their care; the Milo Highway Department and anyone else who came through the snow storm that evening to assist the Husted’s.
