Elnora (Ellie) F. McCann-Stocum
HAMMONDSPORT – Elnora (Ellie) F. McCann-Stocum, age 80, of Hammondsport, NY passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Ellie was born to Norman and Goldie Shugars on March 25, 1942, in Lovettsville, Virginia. She married Richard G. McCann in 1961. After his death in 1983, she later married Donald Stocum in 1988.
Ellie worked at Perkins Hardware until she sustained a back injury. She then lived her true calling of being a caregiver for not only her own children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but all of the children she came in contact with. Ellie could often be found at a sporting event, baby shower, birthday party, or graduation party supporting and cheering on all of those she loved unconditionally.
Ellie was predeceased by her parents, Goldie and Norman Shugars, her brother, Arthur Shugars, her sister, Nola May Shugars, her husband, Richard G. McCann, her second husband, Donald Stocum, her son, Richard M. McCann, and her grandson, Benjamin McCann.
She is survived by her loving sister, Joyce Charles, children Gary (Doni) McCann, Randy (Norma) McCann, Terri (Jack) Skinner, daughter in law, Jean McCann, cousin, Anna Furr, grandchildren Tiffany (Chase) Longwell, Randy (Stacha) McCann, Caylin McCann, Billy (Ashley Williams) McCann, Travis (Jeanna) Skinner, Cody Skinner, great grandchildren, Trinity, Phoenix, Sawyer, and Vaida Longwell and Hunter McCann, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and a very large extended family that she loved dearly.
A private burial will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming weeks.
