Christopher E. Linton, Sr.

AVOCA-Christopher E. Linton, Sr., 71, passed away at home on Thursday (Sept. 15, 2022) surrounded by loving family.

Born in Orange, NJ on Jan. 19, 1951 he was a son of the late Everett and LaVerne (Blakenship) Linton. On May 10, 1974 he was married in Lincoln Park, NY to Diana Moore, who predeceased him on Jan. 7, 2010 after 36 years of marriage. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his sister, Sharon; his brother, Pete and stepfather, John T.

Chris left high school to join the U.S. Army, rather than wait to be drafted, he served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969 when he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.

After returning from the U.S. Army, he completed his high school GED.

Chris and Diana resided in Lincoln Park, NJ where they raised their loving family, owned and operated Linton Enterprises and Beaverton Service’s providing automotive towing, repair, and services until 1984 when they decided to leave the suburban life to live in the country side, after one of there daughters was hit by a car while bicycling.  In 1985 they moved their family to Avoca/Howard NY, after driving tractor trailers and working as a consultant to other business all around the east coast.  They eventually opened On Call Energy Management in 1996 with their son and daughter, providing heating and air conditioning services to the community until 2011.

A life member of the Hornell VFW, he was also a member of the AANR and enjoyed camping and working on classic and muscle cars.

Surviving are his dog, Sheba; daughter, Cassie (Todd) VanDelinder of South Carolina; sons, Christopher (Paula) Linton, Jr. of Avoca and Michael Robbins of Buffalo; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Mig of Pennsylvania; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 22, 2022) at the Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca. Relatives and friends are invited to join his family for a graveside service, with military honors, at Valley View Cemetery in Avoca immediately following the calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Fisher House Foundation, 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville, MD 20852. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
