Barry J. Cermak
PRATTSBURGH – Barry J. Cermak, age 80 of Prattsburgh, NY, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2022 surrounded by family and his 2 dogs. Barry’s last wishes of being home with his dogs and family overlooking his pond was fulfilled.
Barry had a long career of being an owner operator of his excavating business, being town sheriff, serving 25 years as a NYS forest ranger for the DEC, served as a volunteer fireman and a past chief at The Prattsburgh volunteer fire department and after retirement co-owner of JB’s Bar and Grill. He was well known for his passion for cooking chicken BBQ’s, which he passed on to both his boys.
He was pre-deceased by his Father, John Cermak, Mother, Kate Cermak and Brother, Don Cermak. He is survived by his sons Jim Cermak and Chris (Jill) Cermak, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his beloved German Shepard dogs, Trooper and Ranger.
Per his request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will take place on July 17, 2022, at 1 pm at JB’s Bar and Grill, 10832 Gloades Corners Road, Prattsburgh.
In leu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to go to a dialysis center of your choice or the Penn Yan SPCA, PO Box 12, Penn Yan, NY 14527 or the Bath SPCA, 72 Cameron Street, Bath, NY 14810, in his memory.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. One of my fondest memories is seeing him pull up in his truck at the Pine Grove with his dogs by his side. He always had a smile and clever words to share as he found his spot at the bar. Keep smiling Barry!!
