NORTH HORNELL-Barbara Jean Steiner, 101, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 6,2022 at St. James Hospital in Hornell, NY, just 12 days shy of her 102nd birthday.
Born in Hornell on Dec. 18, 1920, she was the only child of the late Harold and Clarabell Losey. Barbara married George A. Steiner on December 15th, 1943, in Hornell, NY. They were married for 67 years until George passed away in 2011.

In 1959, she and her husband, George purchased their own home on the Lake which she and her family have enjoyed for the past 63 years.
Barbara was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell; she was also an avid golfer and member of the Hornell Golf Course.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and for her generosity to many local organizations and especially for her donation of $400,000.00 for the Steiner Family Aquatics Center at the Hornell Family YMCA.
Barbara is lovingly survived by her two children, James A. Steiner of Palm Beach, FL, and Donna J. Steiner of North Hornell, NY; two grandchildren, Rachel and Jim Jr. both of Florida and one great-grandchild, Joey, also of Florida.
A celebration of Barbara’s life is being planned for the Spring of 2023 at her beloved Conesus Lake home.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate in her memory to either Christ Episcopal Church, 6 Center St., Hornell, NY or to the Hornell Family YMCA, 18 Center St., Hornell, NY 14843.
