Arlouine A. Braley
HORNELL/OLEAN-Arlouine A. Braley, 78, formerly of Olean, NY passed away Monday morning (May 10, 2021) at her daughter’s home on Cleveland Avenue in North Hornell after a long illness.
Born in Olean on March 7, 1943 she was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Myrtle (Green) Braley. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her spouse, Glenn Houghtaling, Sr. on November 5, 1990; two children, Jessie (John) Murphy on May 16, 2016 and Glenn Houghtaling, Jr. on June 28, 2016; and one sister, Alice Dubois Shaw.
A resident of Hornell for the past year, Arlouine was a homemaker and a dedicated Christian. She was a member of the Obi Community Church in Cuba, NY and enjoyed spending time doing puzzles, playing cards, barbeques and watching the Food Channel networks.
Her surviving family includes five children, Jackie (Dave) Mears of North Hornell, with whom she resided, Gerald Houghtaling, Judy Houghtaling, Arlouine Lawson and Gary Houghtaling all of Olean; 17 grandchildren, Jessica (Jimmy) McHenry, Donald Mills, Desirae Mears, Dontae Mears, Bradley Lawson, David (Sabrina) Reed, Victor (Kassie) Farr, Sharena (Aaron) Kolata, Renee Teechman, Sondra Tidd, Terri Houghtaling, Racheal Pierce, DeOnna Houghtaling, Terry Hurd, Cassandra Hamilton, Ashley Hurd and Josh (Erica) Hurd; 27 great-grandbabies; five siblings, Sarah Proctor, Woodrow (Marion) Braley Jr., Ada (Tom) Farr, Ida (Dale) Baker and Shirley (Lelon) Allen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held in her memory at 2 p.m. Sunday (JUNE 13, 2021) at the Obi Community Church, 1948 Route 305, Cuba, NY. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean, NY.
