DINGMANS FERRY, PA/ HORNELL-Mr. Edward “Frank” Brown went peacefully to rest on Tuesday (July 5, 2022) surrounded by his family.
Frank was a native of Miami, FL. He was born to military veterans, U.S. Marine Corps Edward D. Brown (d) and U.S. Navy Margaret M. Irwin Brown (d), and later moved to Hornell, NY. After enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, he earned degrees in Engineering Sciences from the State University of New York at Alfred, and in Aeronautical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL.
Frank moved to Dover, NJ and then to Dingmans Ferry, PA where he has since lived with his wife, Barbara. Together they raised four children, Marcy, Eddie, Michael, and Christopher “Kelley” (d). Frank was always on the go with his commitment to Picatinny, his Air Force Reserve duties and service to the United States. Frank answered the call and returned to service for his country during Operation Desert Storm.
Frank loved life and lived it to the fullest. He and Barb traveled all over the world and took many cruises and made many friends. Frank loved to have new experiences that he could share with friends and relatives. Frank was a storyteller and reveled in sharing his unique and sometimes unbelievable and mostly true adventures. He also enjoyed wine, car shows, drag races and cruising in his Corvette. Most of all he loved his family.
Frank joined the Army Civilian workforce at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ January 1973 as an Aerospace Engineer after release from the active Air Force. He retired after 35 years of civilian service with the US ARMY (2008) and 34 plus years with the USAF (2000).
Frank published over 100 technical articles and was an avid mentor and teacher. Among his many awards, decorations and honors, Frank was awarded the prestigious U.S. Army Meritorious Achievement Medal and the Field Artillery St. Barbara’s Medal.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 55 plus years, Barbara A. Brown.
Also surviving are his daughter, Marcy Brown (Torres) with children, Ashley and Angelina. Sons, Eddie Brown (Stacy) with children, Ryan Brown, Molly Mazzoccoli with husband, Rocco and son, Luca. Michael Brown (Dawn), Christopher “Kelley” Brown, (d) with mother Holly, child Zoe, and her son, Grayson. Also surviving are his sister, Bonnie Murray, (Michael) (d) with children, Shawn Murray and family, and Karianne Clancy and family. Also surviving are brother-in-laws, Roland “Buzz” Brown (Sandra) and family, Tom Brown (Barbara) and family, Jim Brown (Sandy) and family, sister-in- law Carolyn Tibbott & (Bob) (d) and family.
Survivors also include over three generations of nearly 125 cousins, nieces, and nephews which were researched through his love of ancestry.
Life Celebration will be Friday (July 22, 2022) from 4-7 p.m. at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St. Hornell.
Relatives and friends are invited to join his family at St. Ann’s Church, 31 Erie Ave., Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in his memory at 10 a.m. Saturday (July 23, 2022). Committal prayers and interment, with full military honors, will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Hornell. All the services will be live streamed and may be seen either on the Facebook page of Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home or at the home page of Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home (see link for live stream) for 30 days beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday (July 23, 2022).
The United States flag and the Air Force flag will proudly fly at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home in recognition of Frank’s military service.

Frank always made us laugh, he always had a new story to tell, He never complained and was always there to give support to anyone in our squadron, who needed it. It was a honor and a pleasure to have know him. “We were gong by there anyways” and we will see you on the other side someday.
I feel so sad to lose you. You were there to guide me though the program when I started working. I still remember studying the reports you wrote. You had a unique laugh and it still rings in my ears and makes me smile. Rest in peace…
I’m not sure what to say, I’m shocked & saddened to hear about Frank’s passing. He was smart, honest, funny & great guy. He will be missed. May God repose his soul and comfort his family & friends; with my deepest sympathy.
I will always remember Frank. I first met him when we were working on the M795 High Explosive projectile almost 40 years ago. That projectile is still being used today by the Army. I am so glad I got to spend time with him at Mike’s house after his surgery. My deepest sympathy to his family.
We are so saddened by Frank’s passing. He’s been a great neighbor to us for nearly 20 yrs; always a smile and fun conversations. Our deepest sympathy to Barbara and the whole family.
