Kenneth W. Ketchum
BATH – Kenneth W. Ketchum, 86, of Bath passed away at home on Friday (June 10, 2022), after a long history of heart failure, without ever giving up. Just one day from his 87th birthday. He will be deeply missed.
Ken was born June 11, 1935, in Corning, NY. The son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Boyle) Ketchum.
Ken graduated from his beloved Northside High School in 1955. After graduation he entered the United States Coast Guard, he loved his service time. He was stationed at Cape May, NJ on the Halfmoon Ship. Later, he was aboard the East West Ice Cutter, stationed at the North Pole. Finally, aboard the Tulie Greenland, after 4 years in the Coast Guard he returned home and began working at the Bath VA, where he retired from after 37 years of service.
Ken leaves behind his wife, Helen, of 62 years; daughter, Elizabeth (Douglas) Towner; two special grandsons, Kevin (Meagan) Towner and Steven Towner; precious great-granddaughter Kaylee; and a brother Ralph (Charletta) Ketchum of Maryland.
Ken was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Elizabeth; brothers, Edward and Irvin; sisters, Dora and Ruth.
Ken enjoyed his reinterment, travel-dancing, and showing his grandsons how to hunt and fish, when they were younger. Ken was a member of the American Legion.
To honor Ken’s wishes there will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held at the Bath National Cemetery on Thursday (June 16, 2022), at 11 AM.
