Florence T. Clark
Beloved Mother, Aunt, and Nana
ARCADE / HAMMONDSPORT – Florence Tillman Clark passed away on January 31, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 5, 1922, she had recently celebrated her 100th birthday and enjoyed many cards, calls, and visits to mark the occasion.
Florence is survived by her son Brian (Sheryl) Clark, Grandson Steven Clark (Megan Cahill) and Granddaughter Alyssa Clark, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Loren, and siblings, Larry (Gene) Tillman, Lucille (Glen) Erway, and Ray (Betty) Tillman.
Florence was born on the shores of Keuka Lake, at the home of Rosie Sullivan, near the foot of Gibson Hill, and was a “Keuka Girl” her entire life. She graduated from Hammondsport Central School in 1939. She was an employee of Corning Glass before moving to Taylor Wine in the early 1960’s, from which she retired in the late 1980’s.
Both Florence and her late husband Loren were long time members of the Pulteney Presbyterian Church. They were a fun loving couple. It was almost expected that they would dress up on Halloween, they attended neighborhood Christmas parties, and enjoyed 30+ years of dining out on Friday nights with friends. She had a great sense of humor, but also retained her pride. Upon turning 90, she said that she did not want anyone to mark that milestone, saying “If they think I am 70, let ‘em think it”. Her passing leaves her family and friends with many happy memories.
A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for July 2, 2022, 11 AM, at Pulteney Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Don Peek officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at Glenview Cemetery, Pulteney. Donations can be made to: Charlotte House, a comfort care facility via their website: www.Charlottehousecomfortcare.org, or mail to Charlotte House, PO Box 123, North Java, NY 14113. Or you may donate to a Comfort Care Home near you.

While at Great Western Winery, I worked many years with Florence, and was blessed to have called her friend. She was always upbeat, pleasant, compassionate and one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. My condolences to her family, may she rest in the loving arms of our Lord.
We met Florence many years ago and always found her to be a lovely, gracious, stylish and yet fun-loving lady. I know she and her Loren danced many a night away in years gone by. She had continued to be a “pillar” in her church, her community and especially the family over the years. Florence will be missed. RIP, my Friend
