Wanita J. Vosburg
HORNEL-Wanita J. Vosburg, 75, of Hakes Avenue, entered into rest unexpectedly Wednesday morning (June 17, 2020) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Hornell on Nov. 27, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Drake) Vosburg. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Andrea Guiles; two brothers, Walter Vosburg and Warren Vosburg; one nephew, Richard Vosburg and one niece, Bonnie Vosburg.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Wanita was a graduate of Hornell High School and devoted her life to being a homemaker. She was an active member of the Living Waters Church in Hornell where she participated in a dance team and assisted at bake sales that she would often bake cookies for.
Wanita loved to be outdoors and like to be “on the go.” Some of her most favorite things to do included spending time with family and friends, going for drives and to amusement parks and picnics and she especially enjoyed attending birthday parties. Throughout the years Wanita has collected all type of elephant “knick knacks” and crocheted many beautiful baby blankets that she would often share with others. She will be remembered most of all for her willingness to always help others and her ability to fellowship with her neighbors and church members.
Surviving are three children, including her daughter, Deborah (Robert) Erskine of Hornell; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Violet) Vosburg; also her best friend and beloved dog, Payton; as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to serve the family of Wanita J. Vosburg.
There will be no calling. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Living Waters Church, with Rev. Phillip Casterline officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either the American Diabetes Association, 160 Allens Creek Road, Rochester, N.Y. or to the Living Waters Church, Southyard Road, Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
