Stephen E. Saltsman
AVOCA-Stephen E. Saltsman, 71 of Oliver Street, passed away Monday evening (July 8, 2019) at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, after a brief illness.
Born in Bath on Sept. 26, 1947, he was a son of the late Clarence and Neotia (Early) Saltsman. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by several of his brothers and sisters.
Stephen attended Avoca Central School and retired from Polly-O.
He was a life member of the Avoca Fire Department and also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved to bake for his grandchildren.
His loving family includes his wife of nearly 49 years, the former Geraldine Weldy who he married Aug. 22, 1970 at Italy Hill, Naples; one daughter, Valerie (Chris) Kincella of Bath; one son, Chris Saltsman of Avoca; four grandchildren, Alexiah, Harley, Brilee and Dakota; four great-grandchildren, Danika, Daisy, Nova and Hunter; two sisters, Ruth Ostrander of Bath and Alice Smith of Cape Town, South Africa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 3-6 p.m. Monday (July 15, 2019) at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at 6 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Don Lester officiating. Private interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
