PHYLLIS J. BOTTOMLEY
HORNELL-Phyllis J. Bottomley, 84, of Maple St., passed away suddenly Monday afternoon (Aug. 8, 2016) at Hornell Gardens.
Born in Hornell on June 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles Harold Beard and Jeanette Britton Beard. On Sept. 4, 1954 she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Frank B. Bottomley, who predeceased her on March 22, 2014, after 60 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, James Bottomley on Apr. 21, 2015.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Phyllis was a graduate of Hornell High School and also attended school to become a beautician.
She was a loving and devoted homemaker who enjoyed sewing, making dolls, travelling, especially to the Adirondacks and was an active member of the Democratic Committee.
Phyllis will be remembered most of all for her beautiful smile.
Her loving family includes her daughter, Lois Davis (Adrian Boyd) of Rochester; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Bottomley of Canaseraga; her four grandchildren, Chelsea and Zachary Davis, Jesse (Kaitlyn) Bottomley and Ashley (Lawrence) Fink; her three great-grandchildren, Ayrianna, Alice and Jack Bottomley; her brother, Charles Thomas (Betty) Beard of Conesus Lake; also her nieces and nephews.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Phyllis J. Bottomley.
Calling hours are 4- 6 p.m. Friday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held in her memory following callings hours at 6 p.m. Friday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Lois: I am so sorry for your loss….I will always remember all the great times at your house…your mom always welcomed us with open arms! So glad I went to see her a few weeks ago..with you:) I am thankful for your Mom, many years ago she said to me, that she gave me one of my greatest gifts…my best friend, Lois! I never forgot her telling me that. Love and hugs….remember I am here, if you ever need me…
