L. STANLEY FOX
AVOCA-L. Stanley Fox, 93, formerly of Wessels Hill Road, passed away late Wednesday afternoon (May 4, 206) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath.
Born in Bath on Sept. 15, 1922, he was a son of the late Merlyn L. and Dorothy N. (Smith) Fox. On Aug. 24, 1947 he was married to the former Grace Shults, who predeceased him on Aug. 14, 2005 after 58 years of marriage. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his two brothers, Roscoe Fox and Lyle Fox.
A graduate of Avoca Central School, Stanley was employed as a farmer, first in Michigan Hollow and later in the Beagle District, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the former Wallace Methodist Church and most recently was a member of the Avoca United Methodist Church. Stanley was also a member and Past Master of the Avoca Grange No. 176, a member of the Avoca Masonic Lodge No. 673, F & AM, the Steuben County Farm Bureau, the Steuben County Cooperative Extension, the Eastern Milk Producers Corp., the Avoca Historical Society and the Steuben County Historical Society.
His loving family includes his six children, Elaine (Kim) Solez of Edmunton, Canada, Thomas (Krystal) Fox of Avoca, Kathryn (Larry) Finnerty of Denver, Colo., Jennifer (Jim) Nuovo of Davis, Calif., Leonard (Rose) Fox of Cleweston, Fla. and Mary Fox (Yutaka Aoki) of Baltimore, Md.; his grandchildren, Seth, Kevin and Scott Solez, Gregory Fox, Edward Fox-Purdue, Doran Fox-Perdue, Jonathan Grant, Allison Nuovo, Holly Nuovo and Eduardo Fox; several great-grandchild; his two sisters, Frieda Feeley of Cohocton and Merldene Friel of Eureka, Calif; and hsi sister-in-law, Norma Fox of Bath; also his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday (May 14, 2016) at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca where a funeral service will be held there following calling hours at 1 p.m. Saturday, with Pastor Barre Butts officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
