LAWRENCE E. “LARRY” PIERCE

SEBRING, Fla./HORNELL-Lawrence E. “Larry” Pierce, 70 of Sebring, Fla., formerly of Hornell, passed away Monday (Feb. 15, 2016) in Sebring.
Born in Elmira on Jan. 21, 1946 he was a son of the late Clarence and Berenice (Wheeler) Pierce. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Lawrence E. Pierce, II and his brother, James C. Pierce.
A former resident of Elmira, Binghamton and Hornell, Larry has resided in Sebring, Fla. since 2008 where he was a faithful member of St. Catherine’s Church.
While residing in Hornell he was employed as a Livingston County Correctional Officer for 20 years before he retired. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church. Larry was also a life time member of the Knights of Columbus both in Hornell and Sebring, Fla.
His loving family includes his wife of 48 years, Margaret “Peggy” Pierce, who he married at St. Patrick’s Church in Elmira on May 27, 1967; his two sons, Joseph (Tammy) Pierce of Hornell and Robert (Deborah) Pierce of Arkport ; his sister, Jane Anne (Tom) Canali and their granddaughter, Sara Canali all of Sebring, Fla.; his four grandchildren, Chelsea (Trevor) Miller, Emily Kay Mulhollen, Brooke C. Pierce and Jason Pierce; his two great-grandchildren; his three sisters-in-law, Kathleen McGee of South Carolina, Patricia (James) Metelko of Rochester and Jean (Ken) Nykiel of North Canton, Ohio; also his nieces and nephews.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Lawrence E. “Larry” Pierce.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet his family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
Those wishing may contribute in his memory to either St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843 (envelopes will be available at the funeral home) or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
