FRANK B. BOTTOMLEY
HORNELL-Frank B. Bottomley, 82, passed away Saturday afternoon (March 22, 2014) at his home on Maple St., after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on Feb. 1, 1932, he was a son of the late Edgar and Rebecca Bradley Bottomley. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Mary Jane Bottomley.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Frank was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1950.
He began his career with the former Erie Railroad in August of 1950 and retired from Conrail as a conductor in March of 1992 after 42 years of employment.
Frank was very devoted to his family and loved spending time with them traveling, especially to the Adirondacks, or just going for rides. He enjoyed photography, woodworking as well as being outdoors. He also liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed trips to Michigan to fish for salmon.
His loving family includes his wife, the former Phyllis Beard, who he married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell on Sept. 4, 1954; his daughter, Lois Davis (Adrian Boyd) of Rochester; his son, James (Sandy) Bottomley of Canaseraga; his four grandchildren, Chelsea and Zachary Davis, Jesse (Kaitlyn)Bottomley and Ashley (Lawrence) Fink; his two great-grandchildren, Ayrianna and Alice Bottomley; his sister, Laura (Guido) Rotella of Rutland, Vt.; also his nieces and nephews,

Calling hours are from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held in his memory following calling hours at 6 p.m. Friday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to either the Hornell Erie Depot Museum, 111 Loder St., Hornell, N.Y. 14843 or to CareFirst Hospice, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning, N.Y. 14830. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
I have the best memories of hanging out at the Bottomley home. So many memories of your Dad, Lois and always loved going there. I am so sorry for your loss….I can see your Dad sitting under the tree with his dog. I loved knowing him and my first memory is making his birthday cake…and using the tube of red gel from the Acme! He thought it looked like toothpaste..and always reminded me of his birthday cake. he will be missed so much. Thanks for the memories Mr. Bottomley from my heart…..
