FREDERIC L. SIEGEL

HORNELL-Frederic L. Siegel, 83, of the Airport Road, passed away late Sunday evening (Sept. 8, 2013) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, after a long illness.
Born in Buffalo on Sept. 26, 1930, he was the only child of the late Oscar and Esther Weintraub Siegel.
A graduate of Buffalo-Lafayette High School in 1948, Fred also attended the University of Buffalo, Buffalo State College and the RCA Electronic School in New York City.
From 1951 to 1955 he proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy statoned in Norfolk, VA.
Fred was employed with Bell Telephone in New Jersey before he began his employment with IBM in Endicott in 1960; retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service.
A resident of Hornell for more than 30 years, he was considered a “jack of all trades” because he could repair just about anything. Fred enjoyed being busy and loved to talk and would often spend time at local restaurants visiting with his many friends. An avid Buffalo Bills fan (especially when they were winning) he also enjoyed computers, race cars (NASCAR) and watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday evenings.
His loving family includes his wife of nearly 31 years, Sharon Maglier Siegel; his three sons, Steven Siegel of Tennessee, Bruce Siegel of Texas and Ronald (Tracie) Siegel and their daughter, Kristen Siegel of Massachusetts; also his special friends, Tony and Sarah Patrick of Hornell.
To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours or services. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo.
Arrangements are with the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell.
