Hornell- Joyce E. Kelly, 83, of Maple St. Hornell died December 19, 2012.
Born in Hornell on June 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late J.
Worth and Bertina Thurston Knapp.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Joyce was a 1947 graduate of Hornell High School. She graduated from St. James Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1950.
On April 16, 1953 she married Dr. John R. Kelly who predeceased her on October 19, 2006. She was also predeceased by her infant son Sean O. Kelly in 1957.
Her family includes her son, Gerard (Ruby) Kelly, her three daughters, Camilla Kelly, Elizabeth (Tom) Kelly-Griswold and Brigid (Donald) Shappelle and 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Brendan’s Roman Catholic Church in Almond on Saturday December 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843 or to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenburg Place SW, Washington DC 20024-2126.

I remember Aunt Joyce as a calm and elegant lady. She will be missed. I always think of her when Red Cardinals fly up to the window in winter.
