RONALD E. CURRY
AVOCA-Ronald E. Curry, 63, of Avoca, died unexpectedly Saturday evening (July 14, 2012).
Born in Wayland on June 23, 1949 he was a son of the late Charles and Helena Rawleigh Curry. On Sept. 12, 1970 he was married in Pulteney to the former Sheila Hoose, who survives.
Formely employed at Haines Equipment in Avoca and Smokey’s in Kanona, Ron was presently employed by the Value Home Center in Hornell.
He was a life time member of the Avoca Hose (and Ambulance) Co. #1.
Ron will be remembered for always helping others and for always building something as every ones handyman. He also especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
His family includes his wife of nearly 42 years, Sheila; his two sons, Marvin (Crystal) Curry and Michael (Jamie) Curry all of Avoca; his nine grandkids, John, Nathan, Diamond, Maria, Sirena, Alexis, Naomi, Miley and Daytona.; his three sisters, Mary Jean, Linda and Deb; his two brothers, Ed and Rick; also several nieces and nephews and close friends, Jane Slocum and Keith Chase.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, David and his siblings, Bev, Judy, Bob and Charlie.
There will be an hour of calling from 11 a.m. to Noon Wednesday at the Avoca Fire Dept., 7 Chase St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held following the hour of calling at Noon Wednesday. Committal services and interment will be at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Ron’s memory to the Avoca Hose Co. #1, 7 Chase St., Avoca, N.Y. 14809.
Arrangements are with the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca.

Sheila, I am so sorry to hear about Ronnie. I haven’t seen either of you in such a long time but I still remember the good times we shared on 415….I’m sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to the Curry family for your loss, Ron was a nice guy, used to ride the bus with him from hornell once in awhile, great guy. so sorry.
