KIRK J. SUN

AVOCA-Kirk J. Sun, 40, of 6063 State Route 415, passed away unexpectedly Friday (May 11, 2012) at his home.
Born on Dec. 20, 1971 in the Town of Urbana, Kirk attended Avoca Central School and was self-employed as a truck driver and musician. He had his own website video blog, Kirksunrocks.
Kirk had many talents and interests including, stone sculpturing, fountain making and glass blowing. He also enjoyed gambling and playing poker. He will be remembered for being a jack of all trades and as a dreamer.
Survived by the love of his life, Theresa Bridge of Avoca; his four sons, Gavin Collmer of Rushville, Zachary Johnson and Michael Johnson both of Hornell, William Bridge of Bath; two daughters, Ellen Bridge of Rochester and Sara (Jordan) Scappucci of Annandale, VA; his grandson, Connor Bridge of Bath; his parents, Patrick and Judy McMahon of Avoca and David Johnson of Corning; his three brothers, David (Gidget) Johnson of Prattsburgh, Christopher Johnson of Avoca, Christopher (Darla) McMahon of Avoca; his three sisters, Shawn Wellington of Avoca, Erin (David) Peck of Prattsburgh and Megan McMahon of Pedricktown, NJ; his grandmother, Ann Lewis of Gettysburgh, PA; his grandfather, Daniel Johnson of Avoca; his friend and brother-in-law, Chris Wellington of Avoca; also many extended family members.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Clyde and Margaret Lewis, June Johnson, William and Ruth McMahon; and his nephew, Luke Pickering.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca. A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Avoca United Methodist Church. Committal services and interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to either the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or to the Avoca Volunteer Ambulance, Chase St., Avoca, N.Y. 14809.

  2. A shame to say the least…but know that he is resting peacefully now. He will be missed by many. My heart goes out to the friends and family who are suffering. God Bless!

  3. My thought and prayers go out to his family and all that knew him ..he was a very active young man and way to young to leave us all ..but must be he was needed in other places so know he is in a better place and he wis looking down on every one in some way or another..
