CAROLINE A. MEAD

HORNELL-Caroline A. Mead, 90, formerly of Green Acres Mobile Home Park, passed away peacefully Thursday morning (July 8, 20l0) at Hornell Gardens, where she has resided since 2005.
Born in Hornell on Feb. 5, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Julia Didas. On Sept. 1, 1945, she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Harold L. Mead, who predeceased her on April 13, 2005 after 60 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Margaret and Lillian and her brother, John.
A life long resident of Hornell, Caroline graduated from Hornell High School with the class of 1938.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. She was also a former member of the Home Bureau.
Caroline was homemaker and loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed doing crafts and playing cards. For about 15 years, she and her husband, Harold, traveled twice a year to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Mark Fiacco of Atlanta, N.Y.; her four grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Tamburrini of Rochester, Morgan (Harold) Todd of Farmington, Leslie (Bernie) Faccilonga of Ft. Meyers, Fla. and Grant Fiacco of Buffalo; her six great-grandchildren, Harry, Marshall, Norah, Madison, Dominic and Landon; also her nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
Those wishing may contribute in her memory to either St. Ann’s School Memorial Fund, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell or to the Hornell Area Humane Society, PO Box 533, Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
