EMMA MAE (REINHART) WHITING
AVOCA-Emma Mae (Reinhart) Whiting, 86, of 4807 Mackey Road, died Wednesday morning (May 19, 2010) at Hornell Gardens.
Born in Cohocton on Nov. 22, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Nellie Fleishman Reinhart. She was married in 1943 to Clifford M. Whiting, who predeceased her. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her grandson, Rick Whiting; her sister, Barbara Reinhart Luckenbach and her two brothers, John and Thomas Reinhart.
Emma attended school in Avoca and was employed by Westinghouse (Philips) Lighting in Bath, retiring in 1982.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and housekeeping.
Her family includes her three children, Patricia Whiting Haggerty (Dr. James Haggerty), of Sanibel, Fla., Larry Whiting (Bonnie Hall) of Avoca and William Whiting (Margery Mitchell Whiting) of Avoca; her six grandchildren, Michael Whiting (Sheri), Christine Callear, Lana Whiting, Teri Whiting, John T. Callear (Nadine) and Jean Whiting Harshberger (Dwayne); her 11 great-grandchildren, Joshua Whiting, Jeremy Whiting, Adelia Callear, Nicholas Callear, Candice King, Mickey Cagle, Jr., Corinne Whiting, Nora Whiting, Olivia Harshberger, Tobias Harshberger and Heath Harshberger; her four great-great-grandchildren, Brooke Whiting, McKenzie Whiting, Wyatt King, Kaitlin King; her two brothers, Herman and Richard Reinhart both of Avoca; her sister-in-law, Shirley Reinhart; her companion of many years, George Mitchell; also her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will take place following calling hours at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. William Spencer officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Vale of Rest Cemetery, Avoca.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620.

my grandam was always there if you needed something.i can remember as a child how she always made our pjs during the cold winters and they seamed to be the warmest things ever…she always had candy dishes full for what ever reason it was that you were there…there was times like alot of us were afraid of the late night storms we would go sit with her no matter how afraid we were we would do it just to be with her..grandma you will be so deeply missed…no matter that she couldnt get any of your names right with each child in the familiy her devoted love was always there for each and every one of us…i love you so rest with eas you have given your all long enough…
