After retirement Don and Dolores enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida or Arizona. Together they enjoyed planting and maintaining beautiful flower gardens. There home was a showplace in the spring and summer with a lovely lawn and gardens.

  2. Don and Dolores gave me a most precious gift, their son Neal who has been a joy. He learned wonderful work ethics and love from you both, he is one of your four children. You can be proud of them all.

My heart goes out to all family members as it is truly the end of a era for us all.
    Love you all!

  3. DAD,
I’M SORRY I DIDN’T MAKE IT IN TIME LAST WEDNESDAY EVENING. I REGRET THAT. YOU ALWAYS GAVE IT A GOOD FIGHT. HOWEVER, YOU SUFFERED LONG ENOUGH. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME INSPIRATION AND OPPORTUNITIES. YOU WILL BE MISSED AND LOVED FOREVER. YOUR SON. NEAL

  4. My Grandpa, My Grandma, and now, My Guardian Angels~

My grandparents took a special place in my heart as a young girl. Even though we lived far away, I always felt very close to them both. My grandmother taught me how to love people unconditionally without judgement. She never spoke with harsh words and always found something positive to say about everyone.

Grandpa, you were always so excited to talk to us girls to find out what was going on in our lives. Anytime I would hop on the telephone to say hello, you always called me your little darling!

My relationship with you both reminds me of what my children; Tanner, Easton, and Jakob have with my mom (Cindy) and dad (David). They are so close and love their nana and papa unconditionally.

Grandpa, I will never forget how little Tanner became your best bud during your last visit to Oregon. He followed you around like a little puppy, begging for your ice cream. It is the cutest little memory that we will never forget. I will also never forget how jealous grandma was when I couldn’t say your name and just called you my grandpa-pa!

I love you so much and miss everything I had and couldn’t have with you both. Thank you for giving me the best dad in the world!

Grandpa, this is not a good-bye, as I know you will be looking over us all, continuing to make sure we are all safe. Now, go join grandma-she’s been waiting for you.

  5. Dad, finally able to rest in peace in his own special garden,no leg braces, no hearing aids, no wheelchair! Thankfully he was a stern man that taught me the tools I needed to be sucessful,to love my Family, the outdoors & knowing the rights from wrongs. He was proud of his family & what they all personally have achieved. We will pickup where he has left off to continue his legacy. Gratefull & with love, Dave

  6. Dad we will miss you. Our family will always remember the good times, and will keep both of you in our hearts. We know you have been waiting to meet mom in heaven, now you can join hands together again. Rest in peace. Give mom a huge from all of us, love both of you.

  7. Dad, you were a trooper until the end. I know you are looking down on us kids with our Mother, smiling saying we did a really good job with those kids of ours! You showed your love for us in your own way, a very special way. I will miss you terribly but find comfort that you can walk and hear again. Those that took care of you will certainly miss your sense of humor you showed them. Thank you for being YOU.

  8. Dad, I am coming home to be with family and to pay respect to you for the special life you and Mom gave us. Your unique way in teaching lifes lessons has always driven me down many roads with, as you would say, “improvement to the pavement takes time”. If I can be honest with my mistakes, improvement will follow. I hope in the end, I was one of your children that you could be proud of. I am still trying.
    Love to you
    Your Son Lynn

  9. Bonnie Bill and family. I never knew how important these remembrances were until the recent lose of my Brother and I found comfort in reading other peoples’ remembrances of my brother. Bonnie, when I heard about the passing of your Dad, I immediately thought – the Avoca community lost the last of the “Gentlement of Avoca”. I always put your Dad along with Bill’s Dad, Harmon VanPatton, Mr. Benton and a few others as true gentlemen. So sorry for your lost but find comfort that your parents are now together and healthy.
