HORNELL/SOUTHPORT, NC-Henry Scott “Hank” Greenfield, 86, formerly of Southport, NC, passed away early Thursday afternoon (Dec. 31, 2009) at the Seager-Bates Rest Home in Hornell.
Born on May 26, 1923 in Hornell, he was the son of the late Marlin Hugh and Celia Johnson Greenfield. On June 24, 1950 he was married to the former Janet Spencer, who predeceased him in 2004 after 54 years of marriage. Hank enjoyed boating, woodworking and traveling with his wife on land and sea. He had many rescued dogs in his life, the last being his loving dog, Red, who is now in the care of his niece.
He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as his brother-in-law, Charles Hilsdorf of Almond and many dear friends locally and in North Carolina where he has resided for the past 23 years.
Special thanks go to Theresa Bates and his caregivers at the Seager-Bates Rest Home and to his nephew, Sid Smith and his niece Nancy Iak, who helped and guided him over the last years.
To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, PO Box 533, Hornell, NY 14843.
