Olga was a very special person & teacher. She was my sons 3rd grade teacher in Avoca. My mom (Carol Calkins ) and her had a friendship. My mom passed away Oct. 26th-so they will meet again!!!
She will be remembered by many people for her kind ways & smiles.
My thoughts & prayers go out to all of her family.
Mrs. McCallum is my favorite teacher. I was in her 6th grade class, and back then students were still read to. I could’ve listened to Mrs. McCallum read for hours. She really knew how to read a story. She was very captivating. She always looked and smelled so nice. I remember gazing at her beautiful jewelry. She had the most interesting charm braclets. I adored her!
I lived with my grandmother when I was a kid. We lived next door to the McCallums. My grandmother being so much older had many “older” ideas on how young ladies should dress and look.I remember going to Mrs.McCallum & pleaing with her to please talk to my grandmother & make her understand that all the other girls wore pants to school, and not dresses everyday. She did talk to her and got her to compromise. I was allowed to wear pants on gym days.(Thank you Mrs. McCallum!)Through the years she had a great many talks with my grandmother.(For which I will be forever greatful!) Tim & Doug you had wonderful parents! They were very good to me and my grandmother through the years.Unfortunatley I did’t always appreciate it as much as I should have then.May she rest in peace!
Our sympathy at Olga’s passing.
Our condolences to the McCallum family. Olga was a very special lady, I (Lois) worked at ACS when she was a teacher and we became friends. I always admired her and her willingness to help others. Another angel has arrived in heaven.
Tim and Doug your mom was one in a million. She’s going to be missed by many but will not be forgotten. Your mom rocked! She was certainly proud of you and your families. She was a guidance counselor to many young people. Peace to all of you during this time. Your mom lead a wonderful life.
