FRANK LEWIS WYDNER, SR.

AVOCA-Frank Lewis Wydner, Sr., of 15 Exchange St., Avoca, who was born on Dec. 29, 1919 in Sussex, N.J., passed away Friday (Aug. 15, 2008).
He was owner and operator of his own trucking firm and retired in 1985 and served in World War II in the 1163rd. Engineer Combat Group.
Frank was an avid NASCAR fan, loved boating, fishing, camping with his family and friends and riding his motorcycles, snowmobiles and flying his radio controlled airplanes that he built. He got tremendous enjoyment out of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was an important part of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years the former Donna Allen of Avoca; sons, Frank L. Wydner, Jr. (Debbie) of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Randy D. Wydner (Pam) of Avoca; daughter, Dawn W. Ulmer (John) of Port Jervis and Lillian Belanger (Reynold) of Avoca and Judith Blake of Hornell, that he raised as a daughters; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Adele, father, Clarence Sr.; brother, Col. Clarence Wydner and sister, Grace Banghart.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Avoca United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Sande Thomas officiating. Committal services and burial, with military honors, will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca. A reception at the Avoca United Methodist Church will follow the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Avoca Ambulance Corps or to the Avoca Library for children’s books.
Arrangements are with the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca.

  1. frank was great with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.

    i can remember all the times he woul take me to the hospital because i was in labor and the one time we actually got pulled over by the state troupers because he was taking me down to ira davenport with jackie because she was having a hard time breathing he told the cop to follow him to the hospitas and he would deal with him then i have never seen frank drive that fast before.

  2. Frank always made me laugh! He would put
    a smile on everyone’s face at Guthrie cancer center…he was my favorite patient! I will miss him and his joking. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with Mrs Wydner.
