RUTH I. WELLS

NORTH HORNELL-Ruth I. Wells, 83, formerly of 430 Seneca Road, passed away early Friday morning (April 18, 2008) at Hornell Gardens after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on Feb. 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Milburn and Hazel Bush Pond. On June 14, 1947, she was married in Almond to Jean E. Wells, who predeceased her on Oct. 22, 2003, after 56 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Arnold Pond.
From 1950 to 1982, Ruth resided in West Almond where her huband was employed with the New York State Enviromental Conservation Department. She resided in the village of North Hornell from 1982 until her husband’s death in 2003.
An excellent housekeeper, she also loved to chrochet and, along with her husband, she was a member of the National Trappers Association.
Her family includes her son, Eugene (Winnie) Wells of Fayetville, NC; her two daughters, Debbie (Ron) Fischer of Carson City, Nev. and Norma (Steven) Andresen of San Diego, Calif.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also her nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend, Dorothy Middaugh and her daughter, Verna of Scio.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral and committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with the Rev. Terry Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, N.Y. 14620.
