ALFRED – Dolores (Congelli) Kelley, 95, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday morning (July 28, 2026) at her home in Alfred, NY.
She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Robert C. Kelley; her parents, Nicholas and Beatrice Congellie; two sisters and seven brothers.
She is lovingly survived by her sister, Rosemary (Tom) McCormick of Hornell; her sister-in-law, Linda Congelli of Lockport, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Dolores graduated from Hornell High School, class of 1949 and was a member, a regular participant and contributor of the Hornell High School Alumni Association. She was also a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a devout communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell.
While employed at Alfred University for 37 years she served as a secretary to the Dean of Men, the Director of Admissions and as a private secretary to the University Registrar and finally as Administrative Assistant to the Provost. She was honored by the Hornell Chapter of the National Secretary Association as Secretary of the Year in 1976.
Dolores and her husband owned and operated Century House Antiques for 27 years and spent many weekends selling antiques at various antique shows on the east coast. While not attending antique shows, they were in Beaver Stadium cheering on their beloved Penn State Nittany Lions and as loyal and fervent fans at home, they were huddled by the TV cheering on the Buffalo Bills.
To honor her wished there will be no public calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to join her family at St. Ann’s Church, 35 Erie Ave., Hornell, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. TUESDAY (Aug. 4, 2026) She will be laid to rest privately next to her husband Bob at Alfred Rural Cemetery, Alfred Station, NY.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either St. Ann’s Church, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, or to the Hornell High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 135, Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the church.
