Born in Hornell on April 25, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor (Nesbit) Griffin. On Sept. 4, 1954 she was married at Stephens Mills, NY to Glenn Odell, Sr., who predeceased her on Jan. 28, 2018 after 63 years of marriage. A graduate of Arkport Central School, Phyllis has resided at her home and family dairy farm on O’Connor Road for the past 72 years where she was a devoted homemaker and raised peacocks.

She was a member of the Stephen Mills Grange, the Canisteo Valley Historical Society and the Arkport Senior Citizens. Phyllis and her husband, Glenn were members of the Southern Tier Region of the Guiding Eyes for the Blind and throughout the years they raised 13 dogs. They were also former members of the Bath Woodchoppers, a blind bowling team.

Phyllis especially enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers as well as cow, labrador and peacock figurines.

She is lovingly survived by four children, Glenn (Lisa) Odell, Jr. of Canaseraga, NY, Douglas Odell of Hornell, Suzanne (Ray) Sick of Wayland, NY and Stephany Dungan of Hornell; 12 grandchildren, John Odell, Scott Odell (Bobbi Jo Freeman), Brooke (Craig) Milligan, Brittany Odell, Anne Marie (Luke) West, Jakob Odell, Matthew Dungan, Haylee Dungan, Edward Odell and Kathleen (William) Barnhart, Rachel (Tim) O’Connor) and Renee Sick; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Kenneth (Peggy) Griffin of Cape Carteret, NC; also her nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was affectionately known as Granny to many friends that she “adopted.”
