Robert F. Nary

HORNELL – Robert F. Nary, 90, of East Main Street, passed away early Sunday evening (May 31, 2026) at the Wellsville Manor Care Center in Wellsville, NY.

Born in Hornell on Aug. 31, 1935 he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Kaiser) Nary. On Jan. 20, 1962 he was married to Judith “Judy” Hallett Nary, she predeceased him on Nov. 19, 2008 after 46 years of marriage. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by two granddaughters, Shelby Rose McEvily and Elianna Rose Testani; four brothers, George, Joe, Dick and Jack Nary; his infant sister, Geraldine Nary and his sister, Phyllis Slaght.

A lifelong resident of Hornell, Bob attended Hornell High School and proudly served his country with the United States Air Force from 1954 to his honorable discharge in 1957.

He was employed as a welder at the former Foster-Wheeler Energy Corporation in Dansville, NY before he began his employment at Wegman in Hornell in the produce department.

Bob was a member of the Hornell Am Vets Post and was a country western music fan and could be often seen wearing a cowboy hat. He enjoyed gardening both vegetables, but mostly flowers, which was very evident from the beautiful display of flowers he grew in the front yard of his home. Bob was also a good baker and in his younger years he liked to hunt.

He is survived by two daughters, Denise (Jim) McEvily of Henrietta, NY and Jodi (Matt) Testani of Hornell; four grandchildren, Carissa, Shawn, Colby and Sophia; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Jameson Burns; one sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Schwartz of Greenwood, NY; as well as his nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours and services will take place at the convenience of his family. Private interment will be at Bath National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association, 103 White Spruce Blvd., Rochester, NY 14623.

The Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to assist Bob’s family with the arrangements.
