Mary Theresa (Argentieri) Walsh

HORNELL/FAIRPORT – Mary Theresa (Argentieri) Walsh, 90, formerly of Hornell and Fairport, NY, passed away Saturday evening (April 25, 2026) at St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged in Huntington, NY.

Born in Hornell on March 10, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Emma (Severo) Argentieri. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her son, Kevin P. Walsh; two brothers, Joseph (Pamela) Argentieri and Richard Argentieri; and her sister-in-law, Rosemary Argentieri.

A graduate of St. Ann’s School and Hornell High School, Class of 1953, Mary Theresa received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, in 1957.

She resided in Hornell before moving to Buffalo in 1953 and lived in Fairport, NY, from 1967 until 2022. For nearly the past four years, she resided in Huntington, NY.

While living in Buffalo, she was employed as a medical technologist at Meyer Memorial Hospital from 1957 to 1960. After moving to Fairport, she worked in retail and later as a member of the audit staff at the former Sears store until 1990. In 1995, she became employed as a paraprofessional for the Fairport Central School District, where she worked until retiring in 2012.

Throughout the years, Mary Theresa enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she cherished her many friendships. Following in the footsteps of her parents, she loved to cook for family and friends. She will be remembered most of all for being a woman of deep faith and an active member of St. John of Rochester Church in Fairport.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Paul (Cheryl) Walsh of Huntington Beach, CA; her daughter, Kathleen (Christopher) Thomas of Northport, NY; three grandsons, Bryan (Kelli) Walsh, Sean (Jessica) Walsh, and Jack Thomas; three granddaughters, Kelly (Brendan Davey) Thomas, Annmarie Thomas (Aaron Brown), and Julia Thomas; two great-granddaughters, Nora Walsh and Lucy Davey; and one great-grandson, Clark Walsh. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Argentieri of Hornell, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict at St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged for their exceptional care and kindness — a place she lovingly called home and held close to her heart.

There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to join her family at St. Ann’s Church, 35 Erie Ave., Hornell, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. THURSDAY (May 7, 2026). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict, 350 Cuba Hill Road, Huntington, NY 11743. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the church.

The Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell, is honored to assist Mary Theresa’s family with the arrangements.
