Melissa Anne Turner
BATH – Melissa Anne Turner, 69, of Bath, NY passed away Friday (Jan. 30, 2026) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Melissa was born on Feb. 1, 1956 and was the daughter of the late James Morgan and Carol Richie.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bradley Turner, Sr.; her brother, James Morgan (Elizabeth); sister, Elizabeth Price (Joseph) and nieces and nephews.
Melissa graduated from Cornell University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in Food Science. After graduation she went to work at Crowley Foods in Binghamton, NY, then moved to New Jersey to work at the Campbell’s Research Center. She returned to New York and worked at Taylor Winery and the Ferro Corporations as lead lab technician.
She had a very green thumb and loved tending her flowers and vegetables around the yard or getting them ready to go into the basement for the winter. She liked to go to Ithaca and spend the day wandering through the comment stores, city events or remembering her time at Cornell. She loved to go through the plantations and all of the flower gardens in the spring. In the fall and winter, she could be found watching lacrosse and football at Schoellkopf Field. She could not resist a good summertime chicken barbeque no matter where it was.
Melissa will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
She did not want calling hours or a service. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport, NY at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute in her memory to either Shriners Children’s or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, 35 Main St., HAMMONDSPORT is honored to assist Melissa’s family with the arrangements.
Online condolences or remembrances of Melissa are welcome below or on the Facebook page of Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home.
