AVOCA – On March 10, 2025, Michael Jackson, 62, of Avoca, NY passed away surrounded by loved ones at Ira Davenport Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Mike was born July 3, 1962 to Lillie Mae Jackson and Henry Thomas Sr. in Urbana, NY. He attended Avoca School where he set and still holds two track records.
In 1981 he joined the United States Marines.
After returning home to Avoca, Mike enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He could often be found playing pool in multiple leagues. In the summer, he frequented Mud Lake to fish with his friends and family.
He also loved driving around in his Corvette.
Mike is predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Patrick, his sister Cathy, as well as his parents.
Surviving family includes his wife, Deborah Jackson, daughters Whitney Jackson, Tonya Jackson, Samantha Calkins (Mike), and his sons Michael Jackson Jr. (Courtney), Adam Crooks (Ashley), and Dustin Crooks (Kayla), as well as several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, his brother Henry Jr., and sisters Priscilla, Iretta, Deborah, and Wanetta.
