Robert G. “Jonesie” Jones
HAMMONDSPORT – Robert G. “Jonesie” Jones, 88, passed away late Sunday afternoon (Nov. 10, 2024) at his home after a long illness.
Born in Bath, NY on Aug. 21, 1936 he was a son of the late Raymond and Anna (Lovequist) Jones. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Richard Jones.
A graduate of Haverling Central School in Bath, Bob was employed for Taylor Wine Company for 64 years before his retirement.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Bath and a former member of the Moose.
Bob loved his 1930 Ford, playing golf and spending time at Myrtle Beach, SC. He will be remembered most of all for being a great joke teller.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Barbara (Tack) Jones, who he married on Dec. 22, 1985; three daughters, Bonnie Hamilton (Lou Margeson) of Bath, Cindy Handley of Lockport, NY and Jennifer (Rob) Jenkins of Hammondsport; one stepson, Scott (Lora) Reece; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Roswell Park Cancer Center, 665 Elm St., Buffalo, NY 14203.

Jonsie was a fella you never forgot. He worked at the winery when I worked there. Always laughing, always had a great joke to tell. His smile and laugh made your day. He was a great man. He will be missed. I am happy I got to know him. Rest in Peace.

Robert G Jones was my father, I have half siblings form him as well, My half siblings from David Berlin Sr was good friends with Bob. Bob paid for my insurances and child support up to I was 20 years old. We last saw each other in Bath NY 2018 and before that on Maple Street in Savona NY just before we moved to Oregon.
Rest in peace Bob with our maker, my mother and all the more!

Bob Jones was one of the “good guys” . Worked with him at TWC and he was liked and respected by all. Always ready to make you laugh with jokes, loved playing golf with him, scores didn’t matter, having fun did. Jonesy knew what mattered most in life…. He will be missed but fondly remembered.
