Leanne Mary Deschler

HAMMONDSPORT – Leanne Mary Deschler passed away unexpectedly in her home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Hammondsport, NY.

Leanne was born in Harper Woods, Michigan on April 9, 1967, to her loving parents, Richard and Cathleen.

Leanne was an adventurous child, and that spirit stayed with her all her life. She would seek out the fun wherever she went.

Leanne left Michigan with her family during high school. They made their way to New York state where she graduated from Canisteo Senior High School in 1985. After high school, she attended State University of New York-Alfred, where she earned an associate’s degree. Leanne tried her hand at many jobs, including owning a cleaning business “Clean Like Crazy!” and a cellphone store at the peak of the cellphone boom. She always loved to tell anyone who would listen all about her son, Ben, and how proud she was of him. She loved live music and dancing. She loved her stepdad Bill’s live music the most. She enjoyed fishing with her family and their “Old Fashion Family Fish Fry”. She had quite the collection of antiques and other oddities that she loved to give new use and new life to. Leanne didn’t have much, but what she did have, she’d happily give away to anyone in need. Leanne had a heart as big as can be. She spent much of her time making home cooked meals for those in need, even offering to hand deliver. Anyone who knew Leanne knew she was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Leanne is predeceased by her father, Richard Durieu.

She is survived by her devoted mother and stepfather, Cathleen and Bill Beaudin.

Her son and pride and joy, William “Ben” Didas. As well as two stepdaughters, Kristen Milroy and Gwendolyn Didas.

Leanne was the youngest of three children and leaves behind her loving big brother, Steven Durieu; and her dear sister, Pauline Miner and her husband, Mark.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Nephew, Matthew Durieu, his wife, Shannon and their beautiful girls, Kylie and McKenna; niece, Alise Elliott; nephew, Nick Durieu, his wife, Sonya and their sweet boy, Finn; niece, Samantha Baska and her wife, Katie, and niece, Halie Elliott.

She leaves behind many more loving family members and friends.

There will be an hour of calling from 2-3 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home at 35 Main St. HAMMONDSPORT, where a service will take place at 3 p.m. Friday.  A gathering will follow at the Hammondsport American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry of Hammondsport, NY in Leanne’s name.

The Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home is honored to assist Leanne’s family with the arrangements.

  1. Dearest girlfriend, I wish I was there to hear you yell at me for coming when I wasn’t supposed to. Know that you will always be in my heart and I will remember you on our birthday every year. The time I spent with you it was always like a celebration you always made me laugh sometimes you made me cry but no also that your dear companion Chloe is being well taken care of and I know that you know that she trust me to do that. Roll on up to heaven on your big Harley until St Peter to open the gate.

  2. So many hearts are broken to know you have left our world. When I think of you my first thought is of your huge heart. Always helping those in need. Just doesn’t seem possible that this has happened. You will live on in the hearts of those you loved and the many of those who love you. Godspeed Leanne. 💙💚

  3. You will be dearly missed! You came into my life as a stepmom but you were so much more than that! You were my friend, mentor and guide along my path. So much of who I am today is because of what you gifted to me throughout my childhood and into my adulthood. You left an impression on my heart and soul that will never be forgotten.
You will be forever loved and near to my heart. NFA

  4. We will miss Leanne’s sense of adventure. She always had a smile and a good sense of humor. We’ll miss the yummy food she shared with us and her generous nature. But most of all we’ll miss YOU Leanne
