Judy McCormick

BATH – Judy McCormick, 65, passed peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Saturday (Aug. 24, 2024) after a long illness. Judy was able to stay home throughout her five years of battling her sickness due to the love, support and care given to her by her husband, Harry.

Born in Bath, NY on Feb. 15, 1959, she is predeceased by her grandparents, Lee and Marie Fairbrother; her parents, Jack and Geraldine Fairbrother. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Harry McCormick; daughter, Tami Degroat; stepsons, Mark and Matthew McCormick; brothers, Garold (Sandi) Fairbrother, Marty Fairbrother, Monte (Maryann) Fairbrother; sister, Jill (Chris) Cermak; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Judy grew up working with her father and brothers at their family farm on Fairbrother Road in Avoca, NY. She also worked at Gold Seal Winery, Gunlocks and Phillips Lighting before an early retirement due to health issues. Judy loved her animals, her miniature horse Mae Mae; miniature donkey, Misty, and all her dogs. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, going out to dinner, going to yard sales with her mother, baking, sewing, crocheting, spending time with her family and friends and telling it like it is!

As many would say, you could tell from the moment you met her, Judy was a special person. Her love for her family was like no other, she took care of her father for years making sure he had the care he deserved.  She was always there for her family and friends no matter what they needed. Judy developed a special relationship with Teresa Klock and Michelle Calkins through their visits to Tops. She also had a unique and cherished relationship with her niece, Jennelle McMahon and her great nephew, Jaxx. Judy will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Finger Lakes SPCA, 72 Cameron St., Bath, NY 14810. in her memory, which she visited often.

There will be an hour of calling from 1-2 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 29, 2024) at the Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, 35 Main St., HAMMONDSPORT where a memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Hammondsport American Legion, 8425 State Route 54.

  3. We are so very sorry for your loss. Judy was a wonderful woman who loved life and spending time with her family. She definitely had a special relationship to her sister Jill (Chris) and her niece Jennelle (Billy) and Jaxx. No matter what kind of a day she was having, she was there at every celebration with a smile on her face. Her husband Harry always amazed me of how much he loved Judy and how well he took care of her. She is no longer in pain. She will always be with her family. Prayers for strength and peace as you go through this time of sorrow.

  4. Dear cousin Judy. We grew up together all those years ago. On farms where we learned more than any school could teach. I was a little older and our Mom’s were best friends. Our Dad’s close brother’s who worked and relaxed together. If one needed help help was given.
Your strength was amazing. Your in our thoughts always Judy and Harry
