AVOCA – Carl “Doc” Dockstader, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and esteemed community member, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22nd, 2024 at the age of 77. Born in 1947, Carl led a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
Carl served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of duty and discipline, values that he carried throughout his life as a volunteer firefighter, member of the Avoca American Legion, Avoca Town Board, and many other volunteer positions. Carl worked as an Equipment Operator at the Bath VA, where he was known for his hard work and crossword puzzle skills.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernestine (Pierce) Dockstader and Stanley Dockstader, as well as his brothers, Stanley Dockstader (wife Dee) and Nelson Dockstader.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Candice (Cleeves) Dockstader. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sister Phyllis (Dockstader) Keneomann, his sister-in-law Barb Dockstader, his daughters Nicole Dockstader and Danyelle (Dockstader) Hildreth (husband Eric), his stepsons Rob Kellogg (wife Peyton) and Dan Kellog (wife Mary).
Carl was a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Makenna Luckenbach, Carlee Luckenbach, Emma Luckenbach, and Mallory Hildreth, his grandson, Ethan Hildreth, and step-grandchildren Jack Kellog and Jensen Kellog. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy.
Carl Dockstader will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his community, and his honorable service to his country. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 1st from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Avoca Methodist Church. Immediately followed by a memorial service. Burial for family members will follow the service at Valley View Cemetery. All friends and family are invited to join a celebration of life gathering at the Avoca Methodist Church following the burial.
