AVOCA/ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Norman H. Bowen, 90, of Avoca, NY passed away peacefully on Monday (April 17, 2023) at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 15, 1932 to the late Burton and Marguerite (Stevely) Bowen.
Born and raised in Clarendon, NY he worked the family farm until 1950 after graduating high school and went to work at age 20 for Kodak. He retired after 34 years, relocating to his home in Avoca, NY.
He loved his planes, snowmobiles, motorcycle, camping, fishing, hunting and family times. A member of the Mason for 50 years, he was the type of man with a “heart of gold” and would stop everything to help his family and friends. But most importantly, Norm led by example how to be a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Sandra; son, Roger; brothers, Howard and Lewis; sister, Ginny Interlicchia; sister-in-law, Arlene; brother-in-law, Jim Dennis.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Veronica, whom he married on April 1, 1994; three daughters, Susan Cutcher, Anita Bowen, Julie Johnston (Jeff Myles); stepson, Michael (Kristine) Stowe; stepdaughter, Tracy Stowe; father-in-law, Charles Lesperance.; grandchildren, Kalei (Casey) Cutcher, Regina Carletta, Erika (Andrew) Gauthier, Jeremiah (Caly) Bowen, Aaron (Jennifer) Mruk, Alec Bowen, Gabriel Traver, William and Brogan Johnston, Delaney, Devin and Riley Stowe; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold (Jackie) Bowen, Jane (Wayne) Robinson, Janet Dennis, Debbie Roe; brother-in-law Sam Interlicchia, brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter Lesperance, Maureen (Curt) Warner, Judith (Jim) Carlin, Kevin (Teresa) Lesperance, Tom (Mary Jo) Lesperance, Mary (Paul) Moose, Greg (Kim) Lesperance and Matt (Emily) Lesperance; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca on Saturday (May 13, 2023) from 2-4 p.m., where a Masonic service will take place at 4 p.m. A dinner will follow at the Howard Fire Hall.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Avoca Masonic Lodge #673, 3 Chase St., Avoca, NY 14809, or the Disabled American Veterans.
The Bishop & DeSanto Funeral is honored to assist Norm’s family with the arrangements.
