William C. Travis, Jr.

BATH-William C. Travis, Jr., 72, of Babcock Hollow Road, passed away Monday (Dec. 28, 2020) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.

Born in Corning on Sept. 26, 1948, he was a son of the late William C. Travis, Sr. and Julia (Ferranti) Travis. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by one son, William Travis III and one brother, Lee Travis.

Bill proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1967 to his honorable discharge in 1969. He was a member of the Hammondsport American Legion and Bath VFW and for many years Bill was employed at the Hammondsport American Legion and most recently at the Bath VFW, where he was the bell jar manager. He was also a member of the Bath Elks Lodge.

Throughout the years he enjoyed playing softball for the Winos Team and always enjoyed “toasting” his friends and always found a reason to do so.

His surviving family includes one daughter, Angela (Mark) Harrison of Bath; three grandchildren, Ashlee Weis, Justin Hilligus, Erika Hilligus; two great-grandchildren, Peter William Weis and Brantley Hilligus; his significant other, Carol Baughman, and her three children, Mike Baugham, Tracey Goodman and Carla Sotir; one sister, Judy Travis of Cameron; one niece, Amber Ferbert and one nephew, Jeffrey Travis.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment, with military honors, will be in Bath National Cemetery.
