Warren D. Colvin

PULTENEY – Warren D. Colvin passed away peacefully at his home in Pulteney, on Tuesday (November 23, 2021), at the age of 74.

He was born on February 7, 1947, in Woodhull, NY, the son of the late Gaylord and Dorothy (Burr) Colvin. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Daphne (Tears) Colvin; his daughter, Julie (Michael) Miller of Branchport, NY; his son, Michael (Megan) Colvin of Starkville, MS, and his sisters, Joyce Allington of Woodhull, NY, Jean Wheatcraft of Lakeland, FL, Judy (Dean) Heckman of Springwater, NY, and Linda (Danny) Calkins of Letart, WV. In addition, Warren had three step-children, Ashley Tears, Josh Wormley and Jason Wormley. Warren also leaves behind three grandchildren, Ethan Miller, Owen Colvin, and MaryAnn Colvin as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Roy J. Colvin. His brother, Paul G. Colvin, joined him in peaceful rest on November 25, 2021.

Warren graduated from Prattsburgh Central School in 1966 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps in January 1967. After attending boot camp at Parris Island, he was sent to California, and then shipped off to the Vietnam War. He often said going into the Marine Corps was easier than working on the family farm. He was honorably discharged from the USMC in October 1972 and immensely proud of his service as a Marine. Oorah! Warren was a phenomenal welder and loved to hunt deer. He passed both passions onto his grandson, Ethan. He brought smiles and lollipops wherever he went and was always good for a bear hug. Warren lived a full life as a small farmer, welder, vineyard manager, and constant do-it-yourselfer. His humor and laugh were infectious. With loving memories, we send Warren off until we all meet again. “If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven’s scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by the United States Marines.”
