VINCENT F. ZANNIERI

HORNELL-Vincent F. Zannieri, 88, formerly of 6 Davenport St., went home peacefully to be with the Lord early Friday morning (June 20, 2008) at the Elder Care Home in Hornell.
Born in Hornell on Sept. 11, 1919, he was a son of the late Antonio and Rosina Zangrilli Zannieri. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his three brothers, Attorney Louis Zannieri of Hornell, Angelo Zannieri of Norwalk, Ohio and Anthony Zannieri of Los Angeles, Calif and his sister, Rose Marie Zannieri of Rochester.
A veteran of World War II, Vince served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in New Guinea, the Philipine Islands and Okinawa from 1942 to his honorable discharge in 1945.
He was employed by the former Erie Railroad in Hornell for 20 years as and accounting assistant at the old Accounting Bureau that was located at the corner of Loder and Center Streets before it was torn down in the early 1960’s.
Vince was a barber by trade and owned and operated Zannieri’s Barber Shop in the city of Hornell for 70 years.
His family includes his sister, Grace (Raymond) Aubin of Hamburg; also his nieces, nephews and his good friend, Thomas R. Roselli of Hornell.
To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours. A private funeral and committal service will be held at the convenience of his family at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Entombment will be in the Maple City Mausoleum at Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
