HORNELL – Tyler Joseph Mattison, 31 passed away unexpectedly Saturday (November 11, 2023). Tyler battled, alcoholism, and addiction.
Born in Hornell on August 22, 1992 Tyler was the son of Billie Jo Klees and Chad Mattison.
A resident of Hornell most of his life, Tyler was a graduate of Canisteo Central School class of 2010.
Tyler had a charismatic personality. He was a very talented musician. He loved socializing and being around people. Tyler has made so many wonderful relationships, and friends.
Tyler will be remembered as an amazing son, a loving big brother and a dedicated father. He loved his family and especially his children.
He is lovingly, survived by his parents, Billie Jo and Chad; three children, Braelyn, Rylan, and Jyles Mattison; one brother, Mason Terwilliger of Florida; one sister, Alexis Mattison of Dansville, NY; maternal grandfather, William Klees of Almond, NY; paternal grandmother, Pamela Mattison Esposito of Florida; his Uncle Smokey (Joseph Klees) of Hornell, NY; also many aunts uncles, and cousins; as well as his good friends, Sheena Kennedy, and her son, Jace Porter of Bath, NY.
Tyler was preceded by his maternal grandparents, Sue & Ben Ray; paternal great grandmother, Eleanor Mattison; Aunt Lisa Ray and Uncle James Bossard.
Tyler was outgoing, and had a wonderful sense of humor, all the while struggling with his demons. Tyler had a big heart with a bright future. He was a gift that the world lost and can never replace.
We take comfort in knowing Tyler is now free from depression and addiction, we would have given anything for him to experience this freedom during his lifetime.

Calling hours are 4-6 p.m. Monday (November 20, 2023) at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral service will take place at the convenience of his family with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
A celebration of Tyler’s life will be held Saturday (November 25, 2023) beginning at 2 p.m. at the Hornell American Legion. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Tyler’s memory to Casa-Trinity, 86 River St., Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
