ALFRED STATION-Thelma V. Winters, 84, formerly of David Hill Road, passed away Friday morning (Oct. 12, 2018) at the home of her daughter, Kathy Cogar in Sutton, W. Va., where she has resided for the past year and a half.
Born in Hornell on Aug. 28, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Harriett (Woolever) Gordon. On June 19, 1954, she was married in Almond to Donald R. Winters, Sr., who predeceased her on Sept. 4, 2001, after 47 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her three sisters, Isabel, Marilyn and Glady; also, her two brothers, Miley Gordon and Leroy Gordon.
Thelma dedicated her life to being a homemaker and enjoyed doing yard work, especially mowing her lawn; and she was very fond of her dog, Travis.
Her loving family includes her two daughters, Dawn Winters of Corning and Kathy (Kenneth) Cogar of Sutton, W. Va.; her two step-children, Donald R. Winters, Jr. and Deborah Winters of Almond; her grandson, Mark Spencer of Orlando, Fla; and several step-grandchildren; also, her brother, Pete Gordon of Hornell; her sister, Elsie Jamison of Perry; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to serve the family of Thelma V. Winters.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Alfred Station at the convenience of the family.
