STANLEY G. WRAIGHT

BATH-Stanley G. Wraight, 55, entered into God’s loving arms late Friday evening (Oct. 3, 2008) in the presence of his loving family at his home at 108 Howell St.
Born in Bath on May 4, 1953, he was the son of Gordon and Helen Armstrong Wraight, who survives. On Aug. 6, 2005, he was married in Hornell to the former M. Martha Shick, who also survives.
A former resident of Avoca and a graduate of Avoca Central School, class of 1971, Stan also received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Alfred University in 1974.
He has resided in Bath since 1974 where he was the former owner of Ed Hart’s Gun Supply. He was also a former Department of Corrrections Officer and a Steuben County Court Security Officer. At the time of his death he was employed as the Steuben County Auditor.
Stan was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Bath and a member of the Bath Elks Lodge, the War Dads of the Hammondsport American Legion and the Carducci Lodge, Sons of Italy in Hornell.
An avid camper, he enjoyed any type of technology and working with his hands.
While on vacation in Italy in February 2008, Stan was honored to be blessed by Pope Benedict
His family includes his wife of three years, Martha; his parents, Gordon and Helen Wraight of Lady Lake, Fla.; his three sons, Rev. Patrick (Christie) Wraight of Cortland and Michael (Paula) Wraight of Durham, Ct. and John Austin Fisher of Westfield, N.Y.; his two grandsons, Christopher and Michael Wraight; his granddaughter, Aaliyah Wraight; his four sisters, Janice (Tad) Thompson of The Villages, Fla., Catherine (Woody) Bear of Citrus Heights, California, Mary (Larry) Compton of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Sally (Christopher) Duda of Collegville, Pa.; his mother-in-law, Anita Shick of Hornell; also his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews, a grand niece and his loving dog, Sebastian.
Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. today and 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca. Friends are invited to meet his family at St. Mary’s Church in Bath where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. James P. Jaeger as the celebrant, assisted by Deacon Ray Defendorf and Deacon Ed Wight. Interment will be in Holy Sepluchre Cemetery, Bath.
