Sheldon “Shelly” LaVerne Santacroce

SHELDON “SHELLY” LaVERNE SANTACROCE

AVOCA-Sheldon “Shelly” LaVerne Santacroce passed into heaven the evening of Wednesday (September 24, 2014) at Guthrie Corning Hospital. He was born January 13, 1942 in Bath N.Y. to Edward and Grace (House) Santacroce. He was the oldest of three sons, brothers Edward Santacroce and Richard Santacroce, and the family resided in Kanona, NY.

Throughout his adult life Shelly took immense pleasure in spending as much time in nature as possible, an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, golfer, and spectator of his children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular sports activities. He was more than a good man, husband, father, friend and neighbor. Shelly loved to make people smile, share in a good story, and make a little mischief along the way. He was a good Samaritan in the truest sense and offered help to anyone who needed it, whether they asked for it or not. Shelly’s proudest accomplishments in life are his surviving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Shelly is predeceased by his mother Grace Santacroce and father Edward Santacroce. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Santacroce, daughters, Carrie (Rick) Pratt and Jennifer (Jason) Rogers; his four children, Michael (Bobbi) Santacroce, Roger (Julie) Santacroce, Steven (Denise) Santacroce, and Denise (Dennis) Santacroce -Pelczynski and their mother Donna Santacroce; his 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers Edward Santacroce (nieces, Gina and Lisa) and Richard Santacroce (niece, Charlene, nephews, Richard and Jamie); along with aunts, uncles, great-nephews, and close family friends alike.
