SARA ANN “GRAMS” FAY
BATH-Sara Ann “Grams” Fay, 79, of East William St. Ext., Bath, entered into rest suddenly, surrounded by her family, on Friday (Feb. 11, 2011) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.
Born in Harrisburg, Pa. on Dec. 23, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Esther Shatts Dunkleberger. She was married to her loving husband, William Fay, who predeceased her in 1996. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Donna Fay in 1958 and in 2007 she lost her great-grandson, Saben “Mister” Jones Abbott.
She was employed as a registered nurse and retired from the Steuben County Health Care Facility. Along with her husband, she also owned and operated Fay’s Coffee Cup in Bath.
Her memberships include the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bath American Legion Post and the Bath VFW Post as well as the Elks Lodge in Bath.
Some of her favorite past times included decorating, cooking and puttering.
Her family includes her daughter, Margaret Fay (Roger Abbott); her grandchildren, William Abbott (Stacy Miller), Angela Abbott (Corben Smith) and Sommer Abbott; her great-granddaughter, Shilia Abbott; her sisters, Jackie (Gerald) Elias and Diane Dunklebeger; her “other great-grandchildren” include, Jodi Francis, K.J. Putman, Spencer Jones, Richard Freeland Wheeler, Nicholas Miller, Samantha Miller and Kimberly Miller.
Gram was loved by all her knew her and always helped those in need. Some of her longtime close friends from Lake Salubria included, Dawn Newburey, Joan Scanlon, Michael Hough, Kim Muck, Chris Streicher, Lonnie Smith, Anna Otero, Pat Costa and Frankie Nolan.
She will join in heaven her “great-granddaughter” Heidi Francis as well as Ed Doody and Maxine Smith.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at the Gateway Community Church, 6698 Roosevelt Ave., Bath, where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at noon Wednesday with Pastor Ron Pinkerton officiating. Interment will be in the Champlin Cemetery in Westfield, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bath American Legion Post.
