RONALD J. SHINEBARGER

HORNELL-Ronald J. Shinebarger, 77 of Hornell, died Monday evening (July 27, 2009) at Hornell Gardens.
Born in Hornell on July l5, 1932, he was a son of the late Roland D. and Alta Mae Collins Shinebarger. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Shinebarger; his sister, Vera Garrett and his sister-in-law, Betty Shinebarger.
A life long resident of Hornell, Ron graduated from Hornell High School with the class of 1950 and received his bachelor’s of education degree from SUNY at Geneseo. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954 as a Corporal.
Ron taught school in Elmira, Penfield, Letchworth Central and Greenwood Central Schools as well as for the Hornell City School District at the Bryant School and as a substitute teacher.
He was a member of the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post No. 440 and the Cpl. J.J. Mooney VFW Post No. 2250 in Hornell.
His family includes his two brothers, Lawrence Shinebarger of North Hornell and Harry (Donna) Shinebarger of Ballston Spa; also his nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Services and interment, with military honors, will be held at the convenience of his family at the Bath National Cemetery.
