RONALD J. DICKEY

HORNELL-Ronald J. Dickey, 54, of Thacher St., passed away suddenly late Sunday afternoon (Jan. 27, 2013) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, where he was taken after becoming ill at his home.
Born in Hornell on April 30, 1958 he was a son of the late Roy and Jeannette Helmer Dickey.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Ron was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1976; and was employed as a truck driver for several different companies as a long distance hauler.
Ron was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornell and enjoyed fishing and watching sports. He was also an avid N.Y. Yankees and Cleveland Browns fan.
His family includes his sister, Patricia Green; his brother, Robert (Carol) Dickey all of Hornell; he will be remembered as a “father figure” to his sister’s children, Christopher (Michelle) Green of Fayetteville, N.C., Cheri (Geoff) O’Dell of Allegany, N.Y., Janice (Kelley) Louthan-Green of Naples, N.Y. and Jeffrey Green of Raleigh, N.C. He is also survived by two nieces, Karen Dickey (Christopher) Lyons of Disputanta, Va. and Heather Dickey (Eric) Bischoff of Gaylord, Mich.; as well as five great nieces, five great nephews, several cousins and his special friend, Connie Dunn.
Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral service will be held in his memory following calling hours at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Private interment will be at Hope Cemetery, Hornell.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to either the First Baptist Church, 28 Church St., Hornell or the Hornell YMCA Pool Fund, 12 Center St., Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
