RITA M. MORETTI

HORNELL-Rita M. Moretti, 91, formerly of East Main St., Hornell, and a resident of the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath, passed away Sunday morning (Oct. 13, 2013) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.
Born in Hornell on April 10, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mildred Morris Falzoi. She was married to Attilio Moretti who predeceased her on Jan. 31, 1992, after 37 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two brothers, Salvadore “Sal” Falzoi and Francis “Fritz” Falzoi.
A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Rita was a graduate of Hornell High School and in her younger years she was employed at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.
She will be remembered for being a very talented seamstress who worked from her East Main Street home for many years doing everything from simple alterations to sewing beautiful wedding gowns.
Rita was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell.
Her loving family includes her daughter, Judith Cardamone of Bath; her son, Leonard Moretti of Hornell; her three grandchildren, Mary Jo (Craig) Burd of Indian Trail, N.C., John III (Deidra) Cardamone of Woodstock, Va., Brielle Moretti of Hornell; her six great-grandchildren, Thomas Burd, Cody and Anthony Cardamone, Collin Moretti, Julia Kelleher and McKenleigh Foster; her two sisters, Lena Libordi and Margaret Falzoi both of Hornell; and her nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
