Richard W. Falvey, Jr.

HAMMONDSPORT – Richard W. Falvey, Jr. lived a full life from April 6, 1951 to his last day on September 5, 2021.

In 1969 he graduated from high school and attended Ithaca College and received his master’s degree from Alfred University. He was a former NYS Trooper and retired as a Guidance Counselor from Canisteo-Greenwood Central School.

He was a feisty redhead gone gray. He could be loud, passionate, and brimming with emotion. He was fondly known as the Mayor of Two Rod Road; a man of character, opinion, and leaderly. Rich loved hunting and the outdoors except for when the equipment failed. He was willing to humbly ask for help and accept his silly mistakes when he couldn’t get it right. He was truly an old fashioned gentleman, deeply concerned, generous, a fun and caring neighbor. He will be sorely missed by those who lived with him or visited him in the Two Rod triangle, but especially so by his beloved wife, Beverly; and his kittens, Puma and Norma.

Rich is also survived by one sister, Sandra O’Neil of Pulaski, NY; one brother, Kurt (Julie) Falvey of Wayne, NY; several nieces and nephews; one stepson, Karl (Dina) Julien of Cheshire, NY; one stepdaughter-in-law, Hazel Julien; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Alyssa, Kaylen, Aiden and Garrett Kai Julien; father-in-law, Harry Sharp; and sister-in-law, Pat Long.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard Falvey, Sr. and Leona Swartout Falvey; stepson, Aaron Julien; and a brother-in-law, Jerry O’Neil.

To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the Howard Union Church, 3597 County Route 70A, Hornell, NY 14843.

The LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport is honored to assist Richard’s family with the arrangements.
